We love to make knitwear from pure comfortable material : wool. As wool is a protaine fibre in the skin of sheep, it is a 100% natural material, not manmade ! It is anti-bacterial & safe to use for babies and children with eczema, allergies and sensitive skin. At the end of its useful life, pure wool can be returned to the soil, where it decomposes, releasing valuable nutrients into the ground. When a natural wool fibre is disposed of in soil, it takes a very short time to break down, whereas synthetics are extremely slow to degrade.  Pure wool = cradle to cradle !

Our brand works with pure wools & blends. Each item contains information about materials used.

Every year merino sheep produce a creamy new fleece. Due to its many skinfolds merino sheep produce from 2kg an ewe, up to 18kgs per year for a merino stud ram. They have ten times more hair per square centimer as an average sheep.

Merino fibres are extremely fine, enabling them to bend far more than traditional, coarser wool fibres. This makes merino wool feel soft and luxuriously gentle next to your skin. Due its crimped and fine structure merino garments stretch, yet return to their original shape.

The unique structure of crimped wool fibres react to changes in body temperature, so it helps to stay warm when the weather is cold and cool when the weather is hot, it regulates body temperature.

Merino wool can absorb moisture vapour which means less sweat on the body. The yarn even absorbs the odeurs from sweat, which are than released during washing.

The light weighted merino yarn is not itchy because of its super fine fabric. the microns of merino is between 10 and 24 microns, A micron (micrometre) is the measurement used to express the diameter of a wool fibre. The lower microns are the finer fibres.(By comparison, the fibres of the wool of a Shetland sheep are 40 microns and a human hair is 60 microns thick).

As a breed, the Iceland Sheep is unique – its purity has been protected by centuries of isolation and a total absence of contact with others.  Icelandic wool has a distinctive combination of inner and outer fibres. The outer fibres are long, glossy, tough and water-resistant, while the inner ones are fine, soft and insulating, providing a high resistance to cold. Iceland wool is unspun yarn and it is fragile to knit. However, due to the length of its fibres, it knits into an item that is both sturdy and soft. The yarn is very lightweighted and available in wide range of colours. AW2016/17 bieq will start to use blends with this wool.
Our new hat style BREG is handknitted with a blend of iceland & merino wool.

Peruvean pima is the world's finest cotton. Thanks to ideal growing conditions, extra-long staple length and hand harvesting. Harvesting cotton by hand is also more environmentally friendly. Pima cotton is prized for its exceptional softness and brilliant luster, as well as its durability.  Because of its exceptionally long fibers, Peruvian pima cotton is silky soft, extremely durable, and highly resistant to pilling. And unlike other fibers, pima cotton does not cause allergies, making it an excellent choice for people with skin sensitivities.
Our baby cap Bella in offwhite is crocheted with this beautiful cotton.
